无论您是美国公民或是持有观光签证的游客，每一位到达美国的人士都必须填写一份海关申报表〈CBP Declaration Form 6059B〉，一个家庭只需填写一份申报表。

填写海关申请表时请据实以报，因为美国海关人员有时候会抽查入境旅客的行李，如果您所带的东西被查到没有据实以报，依法海关可以没收您的财物，并且留下不良的纪录。以后再次进入美国时，可能每次都会被检查行李。

携带少于美金一百元的礼品入境不需关税，带入美国的金钱数额不限多少，但如果超过美金一万元，则在海关申报表上必须注明。不可携带任何食品进入美国，尤其是易腐烂食物，如水果、蔬菜、肉类或农作物等，也不可以携带任何盗版或色情物品进入美国。任何含有麻醉成份的药品、或注射药物均须附上医生开示的处方证明。走私麻醉药物入境美国，将受巨额罚款。
